City Science Lab

City Science Lab is a research institute based at HafenCity University Hamburg that studies the digitalisation and transformation of cities. It develops digital tools applied and explored in virtual and urban spaces, guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The lab works with local and global partners across civil society, politics, economics, administration, and science to build data-based governance tools, strengthen urban resilience, and support climate-neutral, liveable cities. It emphasises citizen participation in digital decision-making and promotes transparency and ethical handling of urban data. Its work spans projects, publications, and awards in the field of digital urban research.
