ShowaBamboo

ShowaBamboo is a US company building a bamboo value chain in Kaffa, Ethiopia. It plans to process native highland bamboo into activated carbon for US water treatment, including PFAS removal, and into boards and panels for US flooring, plywood and furniture makers. The company uses US-made equipment and AI-based quality control, with each product traceable to its grove of origin. Bamboo is harvested selectively so forests regrow from the roots rather than being cleared. Future plans include battery-grade hard carbon, biochar for local farmers, and moulded bamboo packaging. The company is currently pre-launch, with first production planned after funding, and shares specifications and samples with qualified buyers on request.
