University of Michigan students building trading strategies and hardware
Michigan Electronic Trading is a University of Michigan student organization focused on the intersection of markets, technology, and hardware. Its members, a mix of traders and engineers, work together in small teams called desks, each dedicated to developing a single trading strategy from initial research through live execution. Desks may build on FPGAs, custom AI models, or alternative data sources. New desks are proposed by members each semester and reviewed by the organization's board before moving from research to real-capital execution under defined risk limits. The group aims to mirror how real trading firms operate, emphasizing hands-on collaboration between technical and market-focused students.
