La Modiste

La Modiste occupies a former three-generation hat workshop on rue Georges Clemenceau in Carcassonne's bastide, keeping the original wooden hat blocks, ribbon drawers and brass conformateur intact. It combines an evening restaurant serving regional Aude cuisine such as cassoulet, tielle and pélardon with a card salon featuring seven rotating tables. Guests change tables every round, and no money is wagered — chips simply track points and return to the drawer at night's end. Entry is restricted to adults 18 and over. Two tables stay outside the rotation for those who prefer to keep their seats, and beginners can learn the rules for free on Wednesday evenings. The room seats sixty.
