Protecting Madagascar's endangered lemurs through science and community
Maholy Ravaloharimanitra is a conservation scientist based in Madagascar dedicated to protecting critically endangered lemurs. Her work combines scientific research, ecosystem restoration, and community engagement, empowering Malagasy communities—especially women and youth—to act as wildlife guardians and long-term conservation partners. Projects include large-scale reforestation efforts that restore native habitats while supporting local livelihoods. With over 17 years of conservation leadership, she has contributed to studying and supporting multiple lemur species and has helped plant tens of thousands of native trees. Her work has been featured in the PBS Nature docuseries In Her Nature. The site invites visitors to learn about and support lemur conservation and habitat restoration efforts in Madagascar.
