Investing in every child's learning from birth to age five
Early Learning Project (ELP) Central Virginia is a Virginia-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to make high-quality early childhood education accessible to economically disadvantaged families in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The organization aims to close early outcome gaps by expanding access to quality birth-to-five care, currently estimated at only 24% among disadvantaged families in Albemarle County. Its first early learning center, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, is expected to open in August 2027. Programs include tuition assistance to reduce cost barriers and a Family First initiative that supports family engagement through dedicated family specialists, recognizing families as children's first teachers.
