Friends for Chesapeake K9

Friends for Chesapeake K9 is a civic nonprofit based in Chesapeake, Virginia, dedicated to supporting local police, sheriff, and fire service dogs. The organization funds protective equipment such as custom ballistic body armor and vehicle climate monitoring systems to keep active K9 officers safe during patrol work. It also maintains a retirement medical fund that covers veterinary care, joint therapies, surgeries, and medications once municipal coverage ends. All donations stay within the Chesapeake community, directly supporting local handler teams. The group hosts quarterly public civic meetings and relies on community donations and volunteer participation to sustain its mission of honoring and protecting Chesapeake's canine officers.
