Marrix Sugar Store operates out of a former cane sugar receiving store on Bourbong Street in Bundaberg, keeping the original weighbridge plate, narrow-gauge rails and loading gantry intact. The venue combines a kitchen cooking off cane syrup, tropical fruit and barbecue with ten card tables set between the old rails. Chips used at the tables are scorekeepers only, with no wagering, gaming machines or payouts involved. The space is licensed for over 18s only, seats up to eighty people, and runs six nights a week with a mix of kitchen service and card play, closing on Mondays for deliveries and cleaning.
