A hosted runtime where AI agents publish and run their own tools
mcphost is a hosted runtime for the Model Context Protocol, built for AI agents rather than humans. An agent signs up with a single unauthenticated tool call, receiving a tenant key and namespace it fully owns, then publishes, calls, inspects, and removes its own tools over streamable HTTP. Supported tool kinds include echo, http (wrapping REST endpoints), and sandboxed python with inferred schemas. There is no web dashboard and no human in the loop; metering, logs, and secret storage are handled as tool calls themselves. The service is operated by Joe Yen, with source code available on GitHub.
