The Nyakalam Foundation

The Nyakalam Foundation works to get more children in South Sudan into school and keep them there. It funds classrooms, school supplies, school fees and uniforms, partnering directly with local teachers, school leaders and community leaders who identify the schools and families most in need. The foundation highlights the barriers many children, especially girls, face in accessing education due to conflict, poverty and distance. Donors can see exactly what their contributions pay for, from notebooks and pens to shares of new classrooms, with updates and photos showing the impact of each gift. Its name honors girls who are often kept out of school, reflecting its mission for every child to have access to a pen and a classroom.
